Evaluation by a chiropractor has long been recommended after a car accident, and this advice is for a good reason. Chiropractic treatment can help individuals heal after an accident and prevent future problems often overlooked by traditional medicine. In many cases, chiropractors can discover damage that is not easily seen, from whiplash to spinal disc…
Why Quality Matters
Three years ago my son, Cruz, who was 4 years old at the time had a nasty cough. We went through all the natural ways to support his body from hot showers, no dairy/sugar, honey and lemon, adjusting him, a humidifier and even putting an onion in his room (ya go look up that one). Nothing was working. And he was waking up every 30 minutes hacking up a lung. I was a tired and frustrated momma.
That’s when I remembered I had an essential oil blend called Breathe. I had no clue how to use it, so I put a drop in his humidifier the following night. And it worked! But I didn’t really believe it was from the essential oil, so the next night came around and he started coughing again. So I used the Breathe oil and his cough stopped.
This is when I had to learn more about essential oils and their healing properties. I had no prior experience with essential oils, so I didn’t understand why people had concerns around safety and usage.
Now three years into my journey, I get it. I have talked to so many moms who want the best for their child, and feel like they do not know who and what products to trust (thanks tricky marketing with words such as natural, organic, and clean). I have also met moms who have tried products that didn’t live up to their expectation.
This is why I want to shed some light on why the QUALITY of your essential oils matter.
Essential oils are marketed as a healthy and natural alternative to synthetic drugs. And some totally are, but not all are created equal. Did you know that there are actually 4 grades of essential oils? The first is synthetic (yup, you heard that right). Over 75% of the essential oil market is synthetic. Wow. That means they can have added fillers or change the natural composition. These are most commonly found in your personal care products like shampoo, conditioner and body lotions (and absorbed into our skin, hello endocrine disruptors).
Next is food grade, which we find in food. This makes up about 15% of all essential oils and still run the risk of impurities. Above that is therapeutic grade, which had been the top grade in the market until doTERRA was created.
Now when a company comes around and decides to create their own grade of essential oils, personally I thought it was for their own gain. But as I came to find out, it was due to the lack of standards in the market and above all, safety. doTERRA saw that there was no gold standard for essential oils, so they created that by defining what it meant to be a Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) oil.
Maybe you have even heard of adverse effects of essential oils? But I beg you to ask, were CPTG oils being used? Or possibly ones with synthetics or added fillers?
This is why I only recommend the use of doTERRA essential oils. Their dedication to providing the PUREST essential oils combined with their transparency allows me to have full trust in these oils.
Every single bottle goes through the CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade quality protocol, which puts each oil under 8 different test (see below) and they put a lot number on the bottom of each bottle. You can go to www.sourcetoyou.com and put that lot number in to see the results of the testing done on your bottle of oil.
It is with this trust an knowledge that I have full confidence in the quality of doTERRA essential oils.
*The CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade quality protocol includes the following tests:
Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
Heavy metal testing
