Why Quality Matters

Why Quality Matters

Now three years into my journey, I get it. I have talked to so many moms who want the best for their child, and feel like they do not know who and what products to trust (thanks tricky marketing with words such as natural, organic, and clean). I have also met moms who have tried products that didn’t live up to their expectation.

This is why I want to shed some light on why the QUALITY of your essential oils matter.

Why do we get sick in Fall & Winter?

How interesting that as the Fall season comes around, people tend to become ill more often.

I find this fascinating because this trend comes along with some other habits that we know can weaken our immune system. Just as certain foods grow better during different seasons, our body functions differently in each season. So in these later months we see less sun, eat more sugar, move less and overall hibernate. So let's look at what we CAN do to support ourselves, so that we can life a healthier and more vibrant life during these months:

  • Get more sun- spending at least 30 minutes in the sun not only helps our body acquire Vitamin D, but it helps regulate the hormones we need for sleep! So come on Southern Californian's get out there!
  • Get adequate DEEP sleep- turn off all lights and phones 1 hour before bedtime
  • Hydrate- teas and broth are great ways to start your mornings
  • Move your body- turn on the radio and dance for 10 minutes
  • Eat real food- bring a healthy option to potlucks or family dinners, including desserts! Supplement when necessary.
  • Use essential oils- cinnamon, oregano and frankincense are some of my favorites to diffuse this time of year.
  • Get your spine checked for subluxation- A chiropractic adjustment boosts your immune system by 200%!

Break Through Your Patterns

On a walk with the littles last week, we saw the roots of a tree emerging between the cracks of the concrete pathway. It made the perfect incline for my son to gain some speed on his scooter and feel the wind in his face and enjoy the momentum going downhill.

This subtle, but monumental moment has stuck with me. Why, you ask? Because the tree was not complaining that someone build this path on top of her roots, rather she continued to do what she does best which is grow deeper roots. Finally after some time, her roots pushed through this concrete to once again see the sun shine.

This reminds me of the human body, because really we are the same elements of the tree. Things happen in life. Change is inevitable. But we have the CHOICE on how we act on these circumstances. We can either focus on the negative, or the positive. You know the old saying, "Is the cup half empty or half full?"

We perceive our whole life through our nervous system. We see, touch, smell, taste and even feel everything around us because our brain interprets it a certain way. Sometimes we can get stuck in a certain pattern, which then manifests into a physical pain or dis-ease. Chiropractic helps unwind stress and tension held in the nervous system, and even help us learn new ways of being! Living a Vibrant Life

What does it mean to live a vibrant life? Everything is made of energy, including us! Allowing your energy to flow is key.

To be vibrant means that you are full of life energy. This is very clear when you compare someone who is known for their "high energy" personality versus someone who is grumpy.

What factors affect our ability to let this energy flow?

  • rest for our body & mind
  • fuel are we putting into our body
  • thoughts we think to ourselves
  • movement of our body

The last piece that most don't think about is flexibility of the nervous system.

The nervous system is what coordinates every single function of the human body. For example, the brain sends energy through the spine out to the stomach telling it to digest the food that has just entered. Once the food has been completely digested, the stomach sends energy up to the brain to signal it to stop. But what if there is something interrupting or blocking this communication pathway? This caused dis-coordination, or dysfunction of the system.

The best way to know if there is something keeping you from living a vibrant life is to visit your local chiropractor and get checked.  Call 832.768.1146 to schedule a complimentary consultation today.
